FIRST ON FOX: The Biden administration critically thought-about banning pure gas-powered stoves earlier than it received widespread criticism for contemplating such a transfer, based on an inner memo obtained by Fox News Digital.
In the memo dated Oct. 25, 2022, Richard Trumka Jr. – whom President Biden appointed to serve on the five-person Shopper Product Security Fee (CPSC) – wrote to a fellow commissioner that there was adequate evidence for the company to maneuver forward with a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPR) to ban gas stoves in the near future. Trumka’s memo was titled, “NPR Proposing Ban on Gas Stoves (Indoor Air Quality).”
“The necessity for gas stove regulation has reached a boiling level,” the CPSC commissioner wrote within the October memo. “CPSC has the responsibility to ban client merchandise that emit hazardous substances, notably, when these emissions hurt youngsters, below the Federal Hazardous Substances Act.”
“Emerging proof is ample to conclude that gasoline stoves in houses emit toxic gasses that cause sickness and that decrease-price, safer alternate options are available,” Trumka added.

Trumka famous that the 2 largest U.S. cities, New York City and Los Angeles, had already banned fuel stoves in new construction “for health and inequity reasons” and since gasoline stoves “strongly contribute to climate change by means of greenhouse fuel emissions.”

In response to the widespread criticism, the White Home was forced to walk back Trumka’s comments, saying Biden was not in favor of banning fuel stoves, and CPSC Chairman Alexander Hoehn-Saric said he was not “seeking to ban gas stoves.”
“CPSC is researching fuel emissions in stoves and exploring new methods to deal with any well being risks,” the chairman added. “CPSC also is actively engaged in strengthening voluntary safety requirements for fuel stoves.”

On Wednesday, the Department of Energy (DOE) introduced a sequence of strict gasoline stove standards that would mandate greater efficiency ranges. A DOE spokesperson advised FOX Enterprise that the agency wasn’t considering a ban.
Additionally, Sens. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., introduced laws that might block the CPSC from banning gasoline stoves.
“Make no mistake, radical environmentalists need to stop Americans from utilizing natural gas,” Cruz mentioned. “The buyer Product Safety Commission’s proposed ban on gasoline stoves is the most recent egregious scaremongering by the far left and their Biden administration allies.”
